At the end of Black History Month, AnnenbergTech and PledgeLA supported the Valence Community Spotlight Event at the California African American Museum in Exposition Park. The morning portion of the event featured award-winning photographer Kwaku Alston, who shot photos of more than 40 African American Spotlight members, including the CMO of Snapchat, Kenny Mitchell, VC leader Arlan Hamilton, Executive Director of SLATE-Z, Effie Turnbull Sanders, and PledgeLA chair Austin Clements. After the photoshoot, the leaders participated in curated mentorship sessions with students and founders seeking relevant guidance and advice to their fields.
